The Blue Siytangco Taiji Kungfu Academy at Oriental Phoenix Arts offers a complete martial arts program for all age groups and athletic abilities. Our curriculum provides comprehensive instruction in Chen Style Taijiquan, an ancient, battle tested system that develops the whole person. Along with learning the four combat elements of Ti (kicking & leg techniques), Da (striking and hand techniques), Shuai (grappling, wrestling, throwing), and Na (joint locking), students will also study weapons training, meditation, qigong, Chinese philosophy, culture, and martial ethics. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in light to full contact sparring, compete in national and international tournaments, and travel to China to visit and train in Chenjiagou, the ancestral home of Chen Style Taijiquan.

For centuries, the Chinese have used taiji, not only for its martial efficacy, but also for its many health benefits. Numerous studies have shown the powerful healing effects it has on the practitioner’s mind and body.

You may be thinking, “Isn’t taiji just for old people?” Absolutely NOT! Chen style taijiquan has something to offer EVERY age group. It can be the most gentle form of healing and exercise (Qigong) for the elderly, as well as a rigorous martial art (Kungfu) for the young. No matter the age one begins, it’s benefits can be seen.

Group Martial Arts Classes

Tiny Tigers (3-6y)

Through a blend of games and some traditional training, young children are gently introduced to martial movement and the discipline of a Kungfu class.

Kids Taiji Kungfu (6-Teen)

Kids Taiji Kungfu classes offer complete instruction in the art of Chen Style Taijiquan. This includes physical and mental conditioning, classical barehand and weapons forms, combat sports, self-defense, and meditation. Kids classes also offer extra guidance in leadership skills, focus, and character development.

Taijiquan

Chen Style Taijiquan is an ancient martial art that is both a battle-hardened fighting system and an energy cultivation method. Through mindful movement and relaxation, the student learns how to harmonize hard and soft, fast and slow, while building strength, flexibility, and balance, This is a complete practice that sharpens the mind, tonifies the body, and heals the spirit. Self Defense & Martial Applications

The Warrior’s Edge Self Defense program is a complete system that incorporates barehand as well as weapons training. Our curriculum is specifically designed to allow anyone of any athletic ability to defend themselves against criminal assault. Join us for fitness, fun, and fighting! (Teen – Adult)

Sanshou Kickboxing

Combine striking, kicking, and throwing/takedown techniques in the combat sport of Sanshou kickboxing. (Teen – Adult)

HEMA Longsword

Explore historical European Longsword fighting concepts as well as Two-Handed Straightsword (Shuang Shou Jian) techniques from Kungfu in a sparring/combat format. (Teen – Adult)
